Easy Berms

It is fairly easy to make berms and there are many techniques for doing it. Here is one way and it's the way that I use most often. I recommend experimenting by trying several different things at different spots of your dispmap and then go with what worked the best.

One easy way to make berms is to just set your airbrush about 4 pixels wide and to air brush a line around the turn that you want to have a berm. What color you use depends on the strength that you are using. I would recommend starting with the color of one of your jumps.

After you have painted the line then you use the selection tool. Start on the end and draw right around the middle of your airbrushed line, when you get to the end of the airbrushed line turn into the inside of the turn and draw back around but away from your berm. Connect back up with your starting point and then use the Gaussian blur to blur the inside of your berm. Use somewhere between 2.0 and 8.00 depending on how far away from your berm you drew your line and what shaped berm that you want.

Then draw around again and blur the backside of your berm. On the back side 2.0 should be ok.

Then you may want to blur the whole berm to get rid of any rough spots. 1.0 to 2.0 should be good for that.

The best thing is to just play with it and drive around on several different ones. Don't be afraid to try different things and don't try to make it too perfect. Things aren't perfect in the real world so let your natural imperfections be put to good use.
